Bandstand
The Bandstand, commonly referred to as the "gazebo", is the original bandstand which was built in 1909. It is located at the center of Central Park, which in the past was home to a courthouse, a fountain, and sidewalks. Frank and Fred Pelton were selected by the building committee to erect a bandstand in the park's center. Upon its completion, they were paid $1,200.62. The first concert was performed by J. Paul Schenk. Over the years, the bandstand has undergone two major renovation, one in the 1970s and another in the 2010s, and a modern sound system has also been installed. Today, it is used by the community for various occasions including concerts performed by the Community Band, prom preview for the local high school, and events for the annual celebrations such as Corn Fest, Ag Day, and Smile's Day, among other things. To see the Bandstand in action, view the video to the right of this text, which shows music being played during the Corn Fest.
