Rushville, Illinois is a town of 3,200 and the county seat of Schuyler County. It is located at the heart of West-Central Illinois. The first settlers, Calvin Hobart and family, arrived in the area in 1823. The Schuyler County was organized in 1825 and originally included parts of Pike, Fulton, and Brown Counties. In 1826, the town of "Rushton", named after Benjamin Rush, officially became "Rushville". Since the first settlers, a wonderful community has developed with many pieces of its history still alive today.
